Global migration programs provide individuals and their families with expedited routes to temporary or permanent residency permits in applicable countries. Most of these countries require the establishment of a local business, complete with a minimum level of capital investment and often with a commitment made to employ a certain number of local workers. Whereas some countries experiencing labor shortages in key industries offer highly skilled individuals and their families accelerated routes to residency and naturalization in order to address corporate demands.

The programs are designed to attract capital and expertise from qualified individuals, as well as to stimulate trade, employment, and certain economic sectors. Whether these programs look to draw on the technical skills of individuals or on the entrepreneurial spirit of investors, they fundamentally seek to reinforce sectors that are deemed of “special interest” to governments, and therefore they often require measurable involvement and participation.
